TRICHOTOMY OF CELEBRATIONS!
Greetings,
First Baptist Church, 739 South 8th Street in Quincy, Illinois, will be hosting the Juneteenth Celebration for our Quincy community again in 2023! Again, this year, we are hosting an electrifying “trichotomy of celebrations”.
The Juneteenth Celebration trichotomy kicks off with the Gala, which will be held June 16th at the Oakley Lindsey Center. A “meet & greet” moment will begin at 5 p.m. At the 6 p.m. hour, we will serve a delectable catered dinner and an exciting program. Our motif for this year is a Black and White Gala. We will be recognizing a couple of our community’s pillars as well as other special things going on in the program. At the pinnacle of the evening we are presenting the phenomenal musical group and band—back by popular demand—The Original Voices in concert!
The Juneteenth Celebration continues with the festival on June 17th at Jackson Lincoln Pool. This kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with various activities and games for all ages. We are very excited to present the Mid-Missouri High Steppers from Columbia, Missouri as our signature event for the festival this year. We will also have all types of vendors, bounce houses, giveaways, a health fair, Kid Zone, historical re-enactments, live deejay, praise dancers, dance troops, gospel music and so much more.
The trichotomy of celebration will conclude with a melodic Community Gospel Concert for the entire community held at First Baptist Church on June 18th. The concert will feature songs in 4 specific genres including Classical Anthems, Spirituals, Contemporary Gospel, with original music and Old School Gospel! There will be several songs for all ages and backgrounds.
